o/t Pictures from Scotland

My son had a works day out with some colleagues, they decided to visit Lochnagar. Lochnagar or Beinn Chìochan is a mountain in the Grampians of Scotland, located about five miles south of the River Dee near Balmoral and 40 or so miles from Aberdeen where he currently lives. Classed as a Munro so its over 3000 feet in height, once at the top it offers spectacular views on a clear day.
Once arrived (they took the trip in the Wrangler) they had a whole range of different weather conditions by the time they got to the topand back.

You mentioned Balmoral, Aberdeen, and Munro. Balmoral is/was the name of a dance hall in west central MN, I think near Fergus Falls, near where ytmag poster "old tanker" lives. Also, Aberdeen, and I think, Munro, SD......makes me think all three areas are home to Scottish immigrants in MN and SD. Thanks for the pics!

Yes I think there are about 13 Aberdeen named towns in the US all I guess from the original Aberdeen in Scotland. I worked in Aberdeen my entire time, we live about 25 miles north of there.

great pictures! ive never got to travel so i had no idea what it looked like over there, much nicer than here [ were in the 6th year of record drought ]

Bill that is interesting countryside. What kind of combine do you use to harvest all those rocks????

Nice pictures, looked like a good hike. Are the lack of trees in most of the pics due to cold weather at that altitude and latitude?

Been to Balmoral. The Queen was in so we only saw one room of the castle. Visited the church nearby
that the royals attend.
Beautiful country.

Thanks for posting photos! I finally had a chance to visit Scotland last year since my daughter was on an agriculture exchange there. Really enjoyed traveling around the country. Great scenery and great people.

I shall henceforth refrain from disparaging remarks concerning the number of rocks in my garden! Beautiful country! Thanks for the photos.

Looks like the glaciers were fairly unkind to a bunch of that area in the last Ice Age. We have somewhat similar areas not too far North of here. Lots of rounded boulders, and if you look close, some of them have scrape marks still visible more than 10K years later.

Pretty interesting country, thanks for showing us. I always enjoy your photos!
