Looking for what they may call a pith hat. They were wore in the 50,s and 60,s seen many in photos of that era on threshing crews. The ones I found on the internet do not seem to be as round as i remember as a child . JD made them of hard plastic

I have 2 vintage IH pith helmets. I checked on ebay are there are NO DEERE or IH pith helmets to be found, which surprised me.

Mailmen wear them around here in the summer. They have some acronym on them- "USPS", or some such. Would look better with an Oliver tractor.

(quoted from post at 09:46:43 06/21/13) there is a local man that has a massey harris one near me
I still have the helmet my dad wore in the sixties. No name on it, just silver paint. It looked like some type of cork material.

Is this the style you are talking about ?

My dad used to wear one, probably late '50s, 'early '60s. Remember it well. Was made of a paper pulp material - like a very good grade of paper mache made from brown paper towels. Relative water resistant. Really suprisingly durable considering what they went through on the farm.

This what your looking for? Found this at an antique mall Bay city Mi. There out there. Just gotta keep watch. I have several, all differant brands. Have found them at swap meets, flea markets. They show up on Ebay regular. $50 to $75 will usualy buy them.

That is the style but it appears to be perforated. Dad's was solid construction that would not let any light through. Couple of little vent holes in each side and a headband inside.
