Gleaner K combine

First off this is my first combine. It"s a gleaner K. I am going to be harvesting sunflowers this year. The first few outter row I would like to combine the sunflowers, but allow all the seed to go out the back because I have paid dove hunts every year. I will combine the rest normally. It has a adjustable chaffer/shoe. If I close the chaffer completely would this allow all the seed to go out the back without hurting the combine?

That should work. Or, just simply leave the weeds unharvested and breaking off and let the birds work a little for their lunch!

Leave them and go over them with a rough cut (bush hog) mower set really high. It will knock those seeds loose and you don't have to reset the machine.
