JD720 is overheating while mowing in second gear with the cutditioner. This has not happened in the past. Any ideas why this is happening.

Hello Dor,

Check the fan belt of the engine for proper R.P.M's. OR do you have a viscous fan? A/C Condenser adds heat to the thing. Thermostat on the way out? Low coolant? Few things to start with, good hunting!

Along with what Guido said check the radiator for plugging might need to blow it out or wash it out.

Try blowing the radiator from the rear out the front with air. Could be lots of chaff in there.

No fan belt on a 720. Might be a plugged radiator. I pull one with my '48 JD D without a problem. Just a good heavy steady load for it. If the old D will handle it, the 720 should play with it.

Possibly the spring loaded friction drive on the fan is slipping or hemostat is sticking.
