Lean to against a gambrel roof.

I want to rebuild a lean-to on the side of a gambrel roof barn so the roof has some pitch to it. Right now it's almost flat and leaks.

Right now the lean-to roof starts at the eave of the gambrel roof and runs at about a 1/12 pitch.

When I rebuild it, I want to start at the hip of the gambrel roof and come out at about a 4/12 pitch, and cover it with steel.

How would I seal the transition from the shingle roof to the steel? The shingle roof on the high barn is still in good shape.

Slip a strip of galvanized sheet metal under the shingles on the appropriate row, pushed up tight against the nails, and have it go over top of the lean-to sheet metal. Screw it down on the sheetmetal (on top of ribs) every other rib.

(quoted from post at 18:06:54 06/20/13) Slip a strip of galvanized sheet metal under the shingles on the appropriate row, pushed up tight against the nails, and have it go over top of the lean-to sheet metal. Screw it down on the sheetmetal (on top of ribs) every other rib.

There you go, simple as dirt.
