I was gonna put the sprayer pump halves together tonight so I got out the parts and set them on the bench. one half rolled off the bench and broke one of the legs off.....

I've got it in my car now so I can press the bearings out so I can weld it back on. Probably do it all at work so when i'm done I can just put it in the oven for post-heat. Because of course it's cast iron.

And then when you DO get it back together,we'll get another 4 inches of rain.

It's only been in the ground for 7-12 days so we've still got time. Still just a couple acres that were way too wet last weekend but we've been drying out pretty good. Hoping to get a bagger lined up for next weekend so we can chop 1st crop. Spray in another 2 weeks or so.

To top it off today was even better....

I was going to go cut some hay for someone else, as their tractor is down. I had to go get our small haybine from the neighbor who borrowed it last week, and never returned it. I brought it home, started greasing it up, and found that the sheild on the far side of it was smashed in so the chain was rubbing on it.

Then I get to the tractor side, and the jackshaft that has 2 double v pulleys on it ans a sprocket was coming apart. After investigating, the cotter pin that was in the castle nut on the end of it was MIA so the nut simply backed off. Buggered up the threads too.

I was just looking at our spare jackshaft not too long ago thinking I really should fix it up (holes in the ORC are wallowed out, and the springs were very weak)

Well, that one got put back in so I can bring the other one in to work and tear it all apart, press new bearings in it and go through it all over. Was almost donw when the skies opened up, which is OK because we've actually been starting to get a little dry on top.

Still plenty of moisture underneath though, so we weren't hurting by any means.
