Weed whipper fuel line

Used weed whipper the other day - all was fine, first use of the season. Was stored dry and fuel free. Today tried to use it, and plastic fuel lines were disintegrating. Had to replace both incoming and outgoing lines. Different sizes - two trips to separate auto stores. Yes, only cost a couple bucks, but frustrating. Wonder if my new gasoline had a hand in the line's demise? Was not alcohol, but may have had some in it. Conventional Michigan no-lead.

i have a small engine repair shop...about the only fuel lines that last more than a year or 2 are Stihl...local dealer keeps bulk hose in stock and i buy from him.

Gasoline contains a lot of powerful solvents, ethanol being just one. Whether or not it was ethanol that destroyed your fuel line is an academic question, given that any gas you buy (with the exception of avgas or the high-priced premix) will contain ethanol.

My tillers gas lines hardened up and dropped of the carb inlet. The small spring clamps couldnt keep the lines on.The loony tunes that force us to use this crap gas should pay for repairs.
