Blower motor resistor?

I have a 2005 Chevy 2500HD Diesel, my heater/cooling blower motor has started to act a little Crazy going up and down all by it self.

I was told to change my resistor, can all of you guys and gals help walk me through this please.

How and where do I do this before it causes a bigger problem, I can"t afford to bring it to a shop.

Thank You Jeff

Jim. Simple job. Did mine a couple years back on my 03 Suburban. Mine was acting the same way plus medium speed wouldn't work. Got the part online from GM PartsDirect. OEM but I bet you could find elsewhere. Remove the blower motor cover by the passenger foot area and it's right there. Swap wire for wire and put her back together. Took me less than 45 minutes. The hardest part was getting all the old plastic covers lined up. Good Luck!

Had that happen to an 06 gmc but it was the wiring harness to the fan motor oddly happen twice. I would check that first.

I don't think the resistor is used on Hi. So if you are having issues on Hi, good chance it's not a resistor. Instead, it could be a bad connection, motor or switch issue.

If the speed is going up and down, plan on the connector too. They like to melt. Oddly the connector costs more than the resistor.

replaced mine on 2005 6.0 gas cost 55 dollars ,real easy no covers resistor out in open, just unplug 2 plugs and unbolt
