Any ideas as to what would chew off Brussels sprouts like this? They were fine last night, today there all chew off an inch or so high! Maybe a mouse, there's no foot prints?

I see a big foot print to the left lol- I'd say it has to be something light , soil looks pretty soft. Rabbit or squirrel - looks like too much damage for mice.

Thanks guys, the garden is fenced, so must be something small. I've never grown these before, so I was dissappionted to see them destroyed. There cut down like felling trees, only thing that got destroyed no other plants!

Jay,
Black ants! having the same problem here. I laced everything with Seven, but there are ants everywhere this spring, in unbelievable hords, and the rain keeps washing off the 7. The hard shelled snails are also becoming uncontrolable due to the wet cool weather. I have spread road salt around the perimiter of my garden to slow the snails and it has worked to an extent, but we need some hot sunny weather to control these garden pests.

Take stick or use your finger and draw circle 3-4 inches diam 1/2 deep around each plant keeps the cut worm from getting to the plant

My wife puts a 16p galvanized nail beside all tomato, pepper and egg plants. She collects them when the plants get frosted. You can use paper collars.I wonder if aluminum foil collars would work. You should be able to find cut worms in the soil. They are about an inch long.
