Fathers day requests

What are you guys telling the family you want for fathers day? I have asked for my normal thing with my two daughters. "I want your time so come spend some time with me". But this year I have added to it. "I want some grand kids so go pratice".

I request they dont spend their hard earned (and needed more at their age and stage in life) money for more "stuff" for old dad. I usually get a phone call from each of them which I sincerely appreciate and means the world to me. I have saved a few keepsakes over the years of the types of things kids in grade school give to dads which mean more then any material posessions and which I'd like placed in my casket to have through all eternity.

a pair of "mechanics" gloves.

I smashed my fingers so bad the other day I finally saw the light and decided to go buy a pair.

Tired of bleeding.

... then I saw they cost 40 bucks and I decided I could bleed some more.

Left several obvious hints that they'd make a nice gift.

I"ll go for that, JD. Cut a field yesterday, weeds taking over - had to be cut. (Finally identified weeds, thanks to internet research - WHITE CHAMPION - always called them something more colorful.) Hopefully the storm for southern Michigan will pass south of us. Sprinkling lightly here now, but forecasts are real nasty for south of I-94 this evening - torrential rains, severe winds.

As sar as father"s day, wife let me get a very nice SLR digital camera, 2 lenses. All my nice collection of film cameras (several, and lenses, etc.) are now obsolete. Now if I can corener the grand kids! Other than that, just like some time with the children and grand children. Gift of time - priceless.

I tell em not to spend any money on me. I did get a new chainsaw back in May - told the wife it was for Mother's day!

The Saturday prior we're having a lobster feed at my younger daughter's place.

My grandson is home on leave from the Corps, his little brother is graduating from the 8th grade. Both daughters, all three grandsons, several granddaughters and great-granddaughters will be there.

All you can eat and family time. Man can't ask for more than that.

Been a father for 29 years, never got a thing. Not expecting much this year either.

I just want a card from my kids. Last year son gave me a card that said; "Dad you've always been there for me." On the inside, "conveniently located on the couch in front of the TV."

First year without my dad. He would have been 95 on the 15th. Stopped at the cemetery this afternoon.

Normally I plead for no gifts for Fathers day, but this year is a little different. Last summer I started canning tomatos with 1/2 a green pepper and 1/2 a chopped up onion in and that made the best base for spaghetti, soups, stews and chili! I have been missing out on some mighty good eating all these years! Anyway, I asked for a Camp Chef 60,000 btu single burner cooker to do my canning outside. It should be here Friday. (From Amazon)

We're not much on "stuff", so not expecting anything. They used to buy me tools, but like I told them, the only tools I want but don't have, you've never even heard of.

The one kid and family who still live nearby will probably have us over for a weinie roast or something, and the others will call.

Last year my kids ( ages 17 to 24 ) got together without me knowing and did a photo shoot and made me a wonderful collage of photos..wonderful gift

This year they did it again.. They came over Sunday and we spent 3 hours taking photos on the farm..i had a wonderful time and cant wait to see the finished product when they come over fathers day..priceless and proud dad

Seems like everyday is Fathers Day around here. When one of the girls call there is always a "Dad I Love You" priceless moment before they say good bye. I don't know why I have been blessed in so many ways but I shall be forever grateful.

Guess I'm going to be spending fathers day by myself. Wife and daughter are on there way to Chapel Hill North Carolina to look for an apartment so she can start school there in the fall for her masters degree. Will not be back until late Sunday night and that's just the wife daughter stayed in Tallahassee to work thru the summer. So its just me the 2 dogs and the cat. I will go see my father Sunday and spend some time with him and my mom. He's 77 and still going pretty good always wants to know when I'm going to finish the next tractor project so he buy another one. I can't tell him we've run out room to put them. As long as he is alive I'll keep doing them for him.

Spend as much time as you can with your parents. Time is so important with them. When they gone you will wonder why you didnt. Go fishing, go to the local musiem. Go have a bon fire. Just spend time with them. You will not regret it.

Thanks JL and I will. My father and I sorta drifted apart after I became an adult but these old tractors have brought us back together somewhat over the last few years. I restored a 51 8n for him for fathers day 12 years ago and that got things started 10 tractors later including his fathers 63 Ford 4000 and were still at it. He buys them and I restore them. He gets to show them off and brag on them to his friends. I wouldn't have it any other way

Whooa guys im so glade to see the responce that i have. Very herat touching. We are all blessed with love and care from our families. jerry

I know the boys will get me something, but the most important thing is a phone call(all live some distance away), which I will get too. Don't really need more stuff, but that's what our society promotes. Best way to celebrate Fathers Day is knowing I have three talented, hard-working, honest, honorable sons. Doesn't get any better than that.

I have spent the last 7-8 fathers day parked on the river in Sault St. Maire, Michigan with my camper. Watching the freighters head into the locks. I spend this week up there every year after the planting is done and most of my steers are sent to market.
I receive a phone call from each of my four kids sometime during the day. My wife will cook me a steak on the grill on the camper. I am more than happy with that. I don't want any gifts from anyone. If I want or need something I can buy it myself. I don't want them spending their money on me.

I guess Sunday is father's day isn't it? I really don't know if anything is coming my way. I'm certainly not asking for anything. A phrase that just came to my mind is; "Anyone male can be a father but it takes a man to be a dad". Jim

I don't really want anything. I was planning to be chopping 1st crop with my dad so I didn't really have any other plans for the weekend. Now that's getting pushed back a week and I think I might go check out the tractor pulls in Mackville. Atleast the antique classes...

Same thing I ask for every year. Call me and let me know you're Ok.
