Algae in water

I am aware that you said non chemical solution, however 1/2 cup of laundry bleach worked wonders in my 100 gal. poly, cow water tank. After 1 day the bleach smell was gone, but so was the alge. Probably no different than chloriated city water!

A little copper sulfate works great and is safe. Everything is a chemical of some kind, not sure exactly if this meets your goal.

Keep the tank out of direct sunlight; yes, I know, hard or impossible to do with large tanks. For tanks of 500 gallons or more, I have just added 1 ounce of 30% Hydrogen Peroxide.

I know of no non-chemical remedy.

I use copper sulphate in my pond and a little laaundry bleach in the animals drinking water; I mean it purifies my drinking water at the municipal water plant, what's wrong with the cows using it too.? Doesn't take much. Start out small and increase till you are happy. I just guestimate but probably put in 1/4 cup laundry bleach to 150 gallons.

1/4 cup is 2 oz of an 8.25% chemical solution or .165 oz of chemical.

A gallon is 128 liquid oz, and 150 is 19,200 oz. Doin the arithmetic yields a .000825% solution. I think it is safe for them to drink.

Try goldfish. This was in a thread on here about a year ago, a couple of folks said goldfish. We tried it in our galvanized cattle tanks, worked pretty well. Mother said after I mentioned it to her that my Grandpa had used them. Common goldfish are grass carp, can get big over several years. Will overwinter with tank heater. 3-4 dozen small ones for 8-foot diameter tank worked for us.
