and in the shop, it wouldnt start right away because it had two stuck valves. We got the valves unstuck and the little beast fired up, a little rough at first but then it purred like a kitten. I run a few boards threw it and everything seems to do what its supposed to do, I just got to sharpen the teeth in the morning and try a few more boards :D

Some guys lead a charmed life. The closest something like that would have come to starting for me, would be a backfire through the carburetor that set my shop on fire and burned it to the ground. If I was lucky, it wouldn't have spread to my house.

Glad it worked out for you. Wish you were closer, I need some lumber.

I agree with Mike. If I had bought it it would have been a week before I got it running and all the valves would have been stuck and the fuel tank full of water!!!. On any given day it's better to be lucky than good.

Charmed life and a hard worker. You spare no element of good practice and good fortune. THat is a very fine setup. Jim

Glad I didnt bet. I said you would have it running by Tuesday. You beat me by a day.

Hope you post a few videos of it running.

Rick

Yep. I bet it's the same manifold- whole head? as my Cockshutt F162. Good thing about the valve. nothing worse than a flat head with stuck valve stems.
I thought I took more pics of it, this was all apart when the guys here were raggin on me because my forklift friend finally got it started by slowly drawing a spark plug wire closer and closer... till he got zapped and slid off the loader frame and it was running on 3... been going ever since. Continental rules!!!

Like Mike(WA), I wish you were closer. I have about 250 tall southern yellow pines I would love for you to take. They average 25" diameter and run straight and true without a limb for about 50 feet.

I used to have a 1959 Airco welder with an F140. If
you ever need to rebuild it, I believe you can bore
it to accept the 162 pistons. If you ever need to
replace it, there's thousands of old Lincoln SA200's
with 162's.

JerryS,
Im not sure where you are at but there is alot of fellas with portable bandsaw mills that would be happy to do you a service of cutting your trees. Check out the forrestry forum under sawmills, you might find some one close by

Lyle, been following and enjoying your posts. You're either fast as greased lightning or have some 72 hour days as you get projects done so quickly. LOL!
