where to find case throttle cable

I have a case 1175. The throttle cable broke. I checked with the local case tractor place and after some searching they said they could get one for $75. I checked this site but there is no listing for one.

Just gonna ask if anyone has a better place to get one?

Can you replace the one you have with an new wire/cable - essentially replace the working parts? If the sheath is intact might be an option. Have done this a couple times.

Pay the price and go to the dealer. Most of us have tried fixing those types of cables with varying degrees of non-success. Jim

Not 100% sure what you mean but.....it actually broke where the "cable head" screws into the "fork" (dunno correct names). Tried modifying it and did some welding and it would have worked but i did not have a straight shot back into the sheath and the cable bent ....and im done playing with it.

The sheath part is good but i dont see how you can put another cable in it and connect the ends.--im all ears though. Im not sure where i could get another cable to use anyway unless i bought the new complete cable and at that point it would be pointless.

First off you need to free up the trunnion on the throttle handle, so it swivels.
that is why the cable broke. If you can screw out the end of the cable, and rescrew and lock it into the trunnion. Then you may??? be able to readjust the nuts holding the cable housing on BOTH ends to get proper function. If not $75 bucks isn't that bad.

'Varying degrees of non-success' means jury rigged repairs of cables like that almost always are unsuccessful. Some fail right away and other fail a little later. Almost every time the cable isn't going to push-pull as easy as a new one or the homemade crimp end won't hold, or is cocked a little or........

Back when I didn't have any money, or less than I have now, I tried many times to fix broken cables like that and most of the efforts were just a waste of time, even though I learned something.

You can sometimes find a cable at an army surplus that can be made to fit but it's hit-and-miss at best. I have a couple of army surplus cables hanging in the store room waiting to be retrofitted to something. Coleman's and Army Surplus Warehouse are two that I know of that have good websites. My Oliver 88 has a choke cable that's army surplus. It even has 'choke' on the button and is green colored. It was twelve feet long and I cut it to the length I needed. Jim

i might give the salvage yard mentioned a call in the morning and if no luck i will order one from the tractor place for the 75 bucks. ---its a new to me tractor and i need this thing working yesterday.
