Is there some picturesque (spelling) rapids nearby that Grand Rapids is named for? One of my brothers is staying up there in Holland and was trying to find something to do that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. He already did the museums.

There are the Tulip farms north of Holland and if you go South Saugatuck ( not spelled right) is there kind of a neat town. and further south is South Haven where there is a maritime museum and a lot of small shops along the river. Over in the Fennville area there is the Todd farm but probably not much there this time of year. I grew up south east of Holland. These are just some that come to mind

Nope, no rapids in Grand Rapids, maybe a long time ago before there was the dam put in. There is an old dam downtown that they are contemplating removing to put the rapids back, in Grand Rapids. To my knowledge there are no picturesque rapids on the Grand River.

I forgot to add that. No rapids just a muddy stinky river that stinks worse after a hard rain. Close to the dam there is the Ford museum and in that area there is the Grand Rapids Museum. Sorry about the spelling tonight.I know there are a lot of other things in these areas but don't remember them anymore

Coopersville Farm Museum in Coopersville, it is just west of Grand Rapids. I have never been there but hear it is nice only $4.00 to get in, they have a website coopersvillefarmmuseum.org

thanks for all the replies, I sent them to him. Looks like your getting more rain there today - we had more storms overnight chance for more today.
