had to replace the voltage regulator on my 52 chevy truck. bought new one at o'reilly's; BWD (borg warner)brand, proudly stamped on box and regulator MADE IN USA. very nice unit, very well made and painted with all the mounting holes and connectors exactly were they should be. felt good.

My son worked for Advance auto parts for two or three years, they also sell BWD brand. When I finally found out what BWD stands for, I said well heck, they should be OK, 'cause Borg Warner has been in business for years! Son said they hardly ever had a BWD part that was defective.

Went thru about 3 of the ones made in the land of almost right, then got a USA made regulator for my Farmall H--no more troubles!

Shadetree, the old Borg Warner has NOTHING to do with BWD ignition parts. They are owned by Standard Motor Parts. They stuff Standard Ignition parts into Standard, Blue Streak, BWD, Niehoff, NAPA Echlin, and probably a few other boxes!

They had YOU believing... shows why old brand names are are worth $$$ to be bought up by new entities!!
Some history

WellIbedam! You learn something everyday! Bob, I read the info you referred to. I had looked up info on BWD a few months ago but failed to make the connection with Standard. Of course SMP has been around for quite awhile, and I have used parts sold under just about all those names at some time or another, but you are quite right, owning older brand names which have good reputations does add credibility to your portfolio.
Thanks for the information!
