well it's raining again as it has been for the last week. Only saving grace is we don't have to water the gardens. The Spuds and all the rest is going straight up and doing well.and Son just finished planting Sweet potato's that came in the mail yesterday. Last year we had Huge sweet taters 7 lbs. Not so many tomato's like last year. only 9 this year. Our Peach trees made it through the tough winters for the 2nd year.
Grape plants are doing O.K so far. Son used the tractor and cultivator followed by the bronco CRT to finish the ground to powder like consistency. Son planted 2 walnut trees last 2 summers ago and they also made it through the severe winters. Moms tulips and lilacs are beautiful . Summer is coming fast and we still have siding to go on the tractor shed. Keeping busy busy busy. How are your gardens doing? LOU.

Potatoes are looking good. Squash and watermelon just came up; pickles/cukes have been up for a few days. Beans are growing good. I need to much the tomatoes. Planted a couple of rows of zinnias for the butterflies and ladies at church. Sweet corn is growing but germination was spottier than normal. I'll plant another patch in the next couple of days.

I hope you didn"y plant the walnut trees close to the garde.....when they mature they put off a growth inhibitor that will slowly kill most garden plants.

John, nope planted those out away from the tractor shed, way South of the potatoes. All we're getting is rain and cool weather, good for some things, but not all the plants.lol.Way different than last year, all we did was water and weed. LOU

Sam, thats what we're missing, good ole haymaker (sun) keeps this up, we should have planted moss and lichens and rice.lol Thinking about playing stormy weather.

Planted taters, peas and onions May 7th,there up and doing well. It's been raining and cold here ever since. Just got the rest planted last Sat and Sun. High on Sat only 63, and got rained out. High on Sun. 65 and sunshine, ground was just dry enough to work. I have 16 rows 100 ft.long, 40 inch spacing, cultivate with an old Massey 30 with one side of a front mount cultivator and the rears on. We haven't had more than two sunny days in the last three weeks, need some heat. One of my favorite past times, poking in the garden with a hoe, then canning and freezing for winter.

Mike, your weather sounds like us,rain and very little sun.Still heating with wood, only 52 outside, tired of it all.Keeps this up it will snow in July and August.
