I believe this is where the serial number should be located but it is not legible.

I am trying to put a front end loader on this tractor and I read there is a 701 and 703 loader that may fit it? I also have found some sites that offer aftermarket loaders for all sorts of tractors. I think I need some additional parts in order to attach a loader and I thought this picture may help. Does anyone have some advice on this?

Use some good paint remover on the area in this picture. NEVER sand or other such thing to find the numbers. Paint fills in the Hand stamped numbers so you have to clean and clean some more to find out what they are. BTDT to many times

Ok I will try this. So exactly where should it be located according to the picture? I thought it would be in the area with the most wear horizontal to the ground above these two holes.

Right above where the 2 holes are. Should look like this

Example if for an 801/841 which would be a 4 speed transmission. If it is a one with a 5 speed it would be like this

The numbers should be right here but you may never find them because you have a diesel tractor.
The bigger battery box on the diesel put it where acid would drip right on the numbers wearing them off and pitting the metal to where you can not see them.

Sorry can not help you with the loader.

The Ford Series 703 loader is designed to fit your tractor, I have one on mine. It mounts under the rear axle and to the front of the engine and weighs just over 800 pounds. According to the operator/installation manual the "heavy duty front end option is required", I just have the regular front end but I am careful with it, as others have said, power steering is desired. If you want to read all about it, go to your New Holland dealer and get: Ford Extra Heavy Duty Loader Series 703 Operator"s Manual", F T O Oct 73 8493 is the number inside the back cover, about $14.00.
