Rock Auto??

Anyone use Rock Auto for repair parts? Was stunned to see their price of $460 (+$22 to +$120
shipping depending on 5 day vs overnight) compared to local discount chain price of $812 for same maker/same part number parts. Just wondering if transactions went smoothly, parts right, billing right, problem resolution ok (if used). Not usually an on-line buyer, trying to caveat (pre)emptor! Thanks for comments.

I've bought from Rock auto a half dozen times or so.
Always the right part for me, never a billing or shipping issue.
Never used their problem resolution obviously, but I have
not heard many bad things about them.

I also have used them a handful of times, never had to return anything. Parts were as advertised, and delivered when they said.

They are GREAT. Since i live in a rural area and also work sat. mornings. It doesn't leave me to much time but i've found that if i order on a mon. or tues. i will have my parts by friday (usually). I love the options for parts and prices and have not had any problems yet. Been using them for about 4 years now.

They do good for me even when I ordered the wrong parts by my mistake. . I had to pay return shipping as I would expect. Just pay attention to shipping charges as they ship the same mfg from different locations.Shipping is easy to figure out before you check out.

I have found them to be fast. Most parts are direct shipped. They can get most National seals and BCA bearings. They can get most any belt if you know the standard size.
I ordered a set of truck injectors and 2 were defective. They sent out 2 more.

I was very happy dealing with them. Good selection . Got closout Caddy brake pads for 6 bucks ,brand name. Ordered 6 rotors and even with 90 dollars shipping saved a fortune over Autozone. Got a bunch of those fridge magnets.

I"ve ordered from them many times, only had to return a part once. The return was effortless and trouble free.

Good luck.

excellent; everytime I've used them. couple of parts that I was shocked they didn't handle but if they have it, none better!

I've used RockAuto MANY times and I've got the 'fridge magnets to prove it. IMO, they have two disadvantages. Every great once in awhile, I will stop a part sale from a local auto parts store just because I don't like the looks of the part, usually because it was made on price instead of quality. You can't do that with RockAuto and you don't know the country of origin when you order from RockAuto. Two, if you need the part NOW, don't order from RockAuto. Normally, I get my parts form RockAuto in two to four days.
There are some advantages to buying from RockAuto besides a lower price. Recently, I bought a brake rotor for my '97 F250 on closeout and it just happened to be an American-made Wagner that had about twice as much meat as the O'Reilly house-brand rotor.
I order from RockAuto a lot and before somebody gets on my case about not buying from a local auto parts store, I really don't have a local auto parts store and the closest ones have employees care about nothing except to cash their pay check.
IMPORTANT: When do the "check out" at RockAuto, try to get all of your items from one shipping point. Sometimes you need to delete items from your cart and add a different brand to accomplish this. If shipping from multiple areas, your savings will vanish when you add up all the separate shipping charges.

Maybe I get good pricing at my local Napa, but I have never seen a price advantage to Rock Auto once the shipping was added. Never more than 10 bucks saved. For 10 bucks or less, I will deal with someone in person.

It's been awhile since I've dealt with Rock, but my experience has been good. My local O'Reilly's jerked me around for a week before they admitted they couldn't figure out how to get an A/C compressor for my '92 Seville. 2 days later I had one from Rock on my doorstep. I like to give the local stores my business, but in return they ought to at least make an effort to earn my patronage.

LOL
I guess I have the proof too.
I used Rock Auto once. I bought 32 wheel studs for a 3/4 ton chevy so I could use chevy wheels on my trailer. I checked prices at 4 parts stores and Rock Auto was able to get them to my door for half the price of the chains. Napa, Oreilly's, Auto Zone and a local. Same Dorman brand studs.

I use Rock Auto regularly, never an issue with the parts. Good selection of different brands/qualities/prices on a plot of parts. Lots of oddball parts for real reasonable money too - like leaf spring hangers for a 1997 Ford Ranger.

The only thing to watch (as I think someone else pointed out earlier) is that the cost of shipping can go up fast if the parts have to come from different places. If you can deal with that, they're a thumbs up

I have used rock auto a time or two with good luck. I will also when I have a part number search amazon for parts. They are usually slightly cheaper than rock auto and if you are a prime member free two day shipping. Amazons parts lookup sucks though unless you have a part number.

I don't have any other access to the closeouts they sometimes offer! I appreciate being able to choose parts from the manufacturer that I want.

Feel good about ordering from them due to the majority positive responses posted here. Good tips on minimizing shipping charges, recently got burned for $17 shipping on a $45 seal kit which weighed about 6oz. and fit in a standard envelope. Thanks to all for the help!
