I gave myself a day off. I have been going almost everyday since the middle of April discing, or mowing. I don't work Sundays. The season for me is almose comming to a end. I do have a few more jobs to do. I am going to bid on a 20 acre mowing job tomorrow. Almost hope I don't get it, but then it is only a couple miles from home, and it should pay good. Still glad what I can do at 70. stan

I hear you. I'm 69 and don't like to stay on the job like I used to. A friend of mine quit farming and started mowing for a local horse farm. He mows about 600 acres ten or twelve times a year with a 15ft. mower. He stays in that tractor 9-10 hrs. a day with a Mountain Dew and crackers for lunch. He is 76 this year, his 6th year of mowing. I don't think I could do it!

Be 71 in Oct, still farming corn and beans 500 acres and driving my 18 wheeler hauling grain, just a lot slower than 15 yrs ago.
Wife is babysitting 11 month old twins, grandkids, and she is a month older than me. Yep we're pooped. But that's life.

I am now 64. I cut down my hay ground to about twenty acres this year from about 45. A few years before that I had cut back from 95 acres. And this is just hobby farming when I was still working full time. I got tired of hay running my life. A major part of it is the weather. I used to be able to cover 95 acres by mid July, while more recently due to lousy forecasts, I was lucky to finish first cut by October.
