JD A RUN POOR

I've got a 1945 JD A . It used to be a puller. The head and block was bad ,so I built it back to a standard tractor. Now it doesn't run right . Runs good in low gears, but when you put it in higher gears,it acts like it's starved for fuel,no power and seams like it's running on one cylinder. I don't know what else to check. Any one got any ideas ?
Thanks Dave

Check the fuel strainer on the bottom of the tank. Unscrew it and check the hole for a blockage. My Jd A was doing the same thing which almost landed it in the scrap yard because I was so mad. It would run great at 3/4 throttle or less but would not run at full throttle because of fuel flow.

If it was built for Pulling, it may not have the correct carb on it or that Carb ay have been modified..??

Don't forget to check the Fuel screen in the carb itself, too..

Ron..
