Logsplitter

My dads old log splitter worked great today. He built is several years ago with a used I beam and Onan engine from the 60s.

I fixed the leaks this spring that I remembered, but apparently did not remember them all. It was fun using it with my son and remembering my dad.

I changed oil in it, and think that was the first time it was done.

Those memory"s are priceless I bought a 420 John Deere crawler because my grandpa always wanted one and never bought one every time my dad and I use it it brings back great memory"s of my grandfather..

I also have a family splitter, my fathers father bought it in 1980 from monkey wards, it's on it's second engine but it works great. I also have a speeco 3pt splitter.

Yep, those are great memories, I have alot of hand tools, new metal garbage cans i use for chicken feed ect that, I got from my grandfathers after they passed away. When ever I use them I think of my grandfathers. Alot of the things would have thrown out had I not taken them.

My old logsplitter, still reminds me of my Grandfather even though it has had 4 new shafts and two new heads since he passed away in 1967!

My Son and I built this log splitter from a picture shown in Northern tool 10 years ago. had a ball building it from scratch and it can produced over 30 ton pressure. Will split logs laying flat(because they were cut a tad to long) with no problem. Now at my age I am the official valve operator lol. We do 20 cord a year. !0 for my daughter and another 10 for us. Had to fire it up this year because we ran out of wood, due to the late snow fall and cold snap.
