John Deere b oil filter

I took the oil filter off my b to replace it and it all fall out in my oil bucket I saw a spring washer and plate. How does this all go back on with new filter my book isn't helping thank you

Never seen a spring system in an oil filter on a B or A. Genreally you just puthe the new filter and gasket on and screw the oil filter cap back onto the tractor.

There is a spring under the plate the filter sets on and then there is a shourt tube that is in there and then a snap ring. Every time I changed oil on the A or B tractors I took it all apart and cleaned it good as there was always a lot of dirt under the plate.

Thats because Dufus threw those parts away.My H has the spring and plate.

Maybe I overlooked it since I generally just drop the cup, swap the filter and go. Never really took the time to pull that apart.
