hog barn slat weight

Demoing an old hog barn. Have to remove the 12'x4'x5" concrete slat flooring..anyone have any idea what these will weight? Im trying to decide if i have enough tractor for the job.

rd...wouldn't that be for a 12ft x 4ft x5 inches thick solid piece? These are "slats" which are probably "sections" 12 ft long, 4 ft wide and 5 inches think.....with spaces between the slats. You'd have to know the gap spacing to get the exact weight. Anyway you look at it, they will be heavy.

The spaces are wider at the bottom than at the top. It's been a long time since I've seen the bottom of one but I'd guess the slot is3/4" at the top and 2"-3" at the bottom. It will still take a healthy loader and a well ballasted rear end. Hog buildings normally have a slope away from them and a tippy loader tractor on a slope is no good. A 3000 pound weight swinging from a loader that's fairly high is dangerous. A week ago I went to the funeral of an old neighbor who had a narrow front loader tractor go over on him on a slight slope. Be careful.

I finally found a spec online..1450 for a 10 ft long one..1100 for 8 ft long..so im thinking 1700-2000 lbs..which means i will either be renting something or hiring it done.

It depends on the brand of slat but they usually weight about 140 LBS per foot of length. So that 12 foot would weight 1650-1700 lbs.

They usually set them in with a boom truck if the building is assessable from all sides. If they have to swing them from one side they usually use a crane.
