I've wanted a cd player for my truck since I bought it (nearly 4ys ago). Mom gave me some $ for my birthday and I decided it was time.

Called Crutchfield's and ordered a cd player, wiring harness and step by step installation instructions. Don't know if I'm brave enough to give it a try. Will see how complicated the instructions are when I get them.

Get it hooked up and get some Led Zeppelin, AC DC, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbson, Marty Robbins, and don"t forget all the great blues people like B B King, etc. Have fun, life is too short.

Buying a kit from a company like that will make it very easy to install. All wiring is coloured coded and the dash kit if needed will have detailed instructions

Crutchfield is great, even if a little pricey. If you have a problem, they have support, and will talk you through the whole thing. I had a problem with my 4Runner, and the first guy passed me off to another guy that knew a little more, and I ended up having an amplifier I did not know about that a power lead for the antenna needed to be hooked to for it to work, and this guy knew about how to do it..Like was mentioned before, the literature they send with the wiring adapter kit, and all is very good. Do a dry fit, first. Twist the wires together, and, turn it on and make sure it works, then solder, or tape the connections, and install in the dash. That will save you having to redo everything.

I'd bought and installed a kit from Crutchfield a few years ago, no regrests. They make it a easy as possible to install. Enjoy!

Did a similar thing about a year ago as the tape player in the truck died. Bought a JVC from Crutchfield, went in easy and works like a charm, even has a USB on the face so I can do the IPOD thing. It's amazing how much better a $125 aftermarket radio is than the OEM. It's also interesting that all the AM stereo and FM HD statins are public radio, guess the government is the only one with enough money to upgrade their broadcast equipment

Nancy, I mentioned to my son I'd like to get a CD player for the shop. He made it sound like I was an old fashioned fuddy-duddy by wanting a CD player. He quickly rattled off to me that I need to order tunes with my I phone and put them on something, I don't remember what it's called. It's just easier for a technologically impaired 'getting old' guy like me to order CD's on the net. Jim

What kind of truck is it? If a Chevy/GMC you won"t have the chime anymore without the logic box. Not that that would bother me any.... Pesky seat belt dingers anyhow.

You talking about door chimes? How new of truck? I assume you're talking about the GMT800 trucks, something with enough brains to talk to itself. I put a radio in a 97 K1500 and the door chime works just fine. I know Nancy had a 2500 chevy, though I don't imagine she still has it, given how darn reliable it was.

I'm not sure just when they started, but the newer trucks chime through the speakers. At least back as far as 03. I'm guessing the 800's are the body that came out at the time the Duramax did?
