There saying frost for eastern NY tonight into tomarrow morning. I just planted some of my garden last Monday, had no idea we were gonna get 5 inches of rain than frost. I came up with this idea, putting empty feed back over the tomatoe cages, it's really windy so the will stay in place, glad I dident plant everything yet!

Hey Neighbor,
I did the same thing this aternoon. Screwed some of my slats for the Mator trellises to the boxes to make a peaked roof over the mators, peppers, and as many of the spuds that I could. The spuds took a hit a week ago, when they had just poped out, but they are up 4-6" now. Hopeing the corn, squash, cucumbers that just peaked out will be OK. The raised boxes do asorb a lot more heat than the ground does. If we are lucky this wind will blow all night.

ACG,
In your last pic looks like you are on the edge of your roof.

The syrup is great. The maple flavored bourbon I tried didnt turn out very well though.

Looks good, I hope we don't get frost but you never know, a very strange week. 88 and humid on Tuesday, now a frost warning! From AC to wood stove!!!! lol.. Did you get alot of rain? Or did it miss you? It started here at 10pm Friday and rained until last night sometime. They claim 5 inches of rainfall in Albany. For the week.

Rick,
Yaw I was on my garage roof. I have a permimate ladder to get on the roof of the house and the peak of the garage makes a good spot to take pics of the neighborhood. As for the syrup and booz combo, ???? never tried it.

She said she only has a few she doesn't use. I guess that's a
good second use for them! I put 50 lb feed bags over the
tomatoe cages. They fit pretty good, it should work.

I lifted the cages off, used 5 gallon buckets. Worked OK from what I can see. Why the wife had the cages on already, I don"t know.

I don"t have that many 5 gallon buckets I don"t think, I put the cages on when I plant before I get busy and the plants get to big.

We used gallon milk jugs with the bottoms cut out for small plants. We had 38 degrees this morning with the sun out.A week of rain in blossom time will hurt the fruit trees.Bees are scarce here.
