Skiing in Vermont?

I 've been checking the radar frequently the last two days to try and figure out when the rain should stop. It is still raining here in NH at 7:00 Am, but I have also noticed that it snowed heavily non-stop for about 48 hours in central VT. They must have well over two feet in the higher elevations. I wonder if Killington will open. I wonder if the Memorial day vacationer-hikers brought their snow shoes.

This rain came right up the pipe as I like to call it, the hudson river valley and semi stalled til it ran out, was just circulating around, 3 days of rain. We were real dry, the grasses on the file adjacent to my house are always first to green, and would be waist high by now, stunted from no rain, barely up to my knees and thin. All the deer feed on it as soon as the grass grows, gets full sun, no other grass areas nearby. The dry 10 or so days, in early May which was beautiful weather like sunny California weather, the ground was hard and dusty like mid summer not any more, we got it all back and then some, lot of fields will have wash outs, as they were just planted, these cold temps, I hope it does not rot the seed. I think the tonnage on first cut hay will be way off this year.

First cut looks real good here 60m to your west. Many farmers in the valley have already harvested first cutting hayledge.
Some was plowed up after harvest, and were planted to corn and beans, but the remaining is looking lush and green, along with everyone's lawns. Remember the old saying around here; "Cold Wet May-Barn Full of Hay" Just hopeing we don't get a frost tonight as the Low moves out, and the High from the west moves in.

First cut has been done for a week here in Unadilla river valley. Elevation 1050ft. Still have about 100ac corn to put in. Very wet now. nearly 4 inches of rain in the last 5 days.

Yes, we are getting snow here in Vermont. We now have 12" ++ at the 2000 foot level.Much more higher up.It is very wet and not good for sking- or anything else!!
I have had 5" of rain in 6 days here in the valley.
They say 85' by next Friday- I hope.

Thats good news Loren, field next to my house is a hill side, but this is as stunted as I've seen it, orchard grass was topped out at about knew high, just odd, my gardens sure are saturated, won't be able to plant it for a few days, I should have gone early and used a cover if necessary, but the one patch next to my kitchen window grows like heck, two gutters for rain total sun, great spot to make up time. I still can't believe the amount of rain, I think we needed some of that first, then that 10 span of sunny/dry weather, they got it backwards up there in the control room LOL !

Rains are spaced well enough that field work is at a standstill
and has been for the last week. Managed to get the first
couple acres of beans in Friday evening. Saturday morning
was cold (50's)and raining. Today it's raining again. Hay is
ripe and needs cut but the weather will not cooperate. It's
funny how you guys in the northeast have hay up already.

Billy, Where abouts are you? I go to Albany or Sharon Springs once in a great while. Two weeks ago I went to Ghent on my way back and visited a fellow that I met snowmobiling last winter in Maine.

(quoted from post at 20:01:20 05/26/13) Just east of Troy.

Well, I went by two weeks ago today on my way back from dropping something off in Albany. I took 7 back instead of the pike.
