Grain bin capacity

I have a lead on a 12ft diameter, 12 ft tall Chief brand bin and I am wondering about how many bushels of oats it may hold. Current owner has no idea as he bought it with the farm and has no need for it.

Hopefully somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's pi(rsquared)xheight. Sorry, I couldn't find the correct symbols....

That should get you cubic feet. Which should be around 1100 bu. As I said before, I hope somebody will chime in if I'm wrong

Figures out to about 1085 bushels by volume. Different grains with different test weights may vary somewhat.

Aaron- a 12 foot diameter bin holds 90.5 bu/foot of height. With this new Outlook I haven"t figured out how to access my hotmail list info, so I don"t know if I have your street address, but if you email it to me, I"ll make a copy of a 2 page USDA bin capacity chart, and send it to you. Covers everything from 9.5 diameter to 42 foot diameter bins.

Thanks Guys. Should be more than enough storage space for what I need. Right now I get about 500 bushels per year, may do a few more acres in years to come, but know I'll never go over that 1,000 bushel mark. Jim, I'll send you an email with my address.
