Dead tree on fence

You guys out there in the dry country with the one tree pasture have some advantages. Storm with 1.6 inches of rain blew a dead pine tree on the fence, which has 4 strands of barbed wire and one electric wire. Noticed that the voltage was down on the fence charger, disconnected one run of wire, found where the problem was. Walked fence, found tree down, walked back, got chainsaw and truck, cut tree, repaired fence, still have low voltage on the line, will have to do it again tomorrow. Fun in warm humid weather.

I took one off about a week or so ago. I cut the darned thing on one side of the fence then was gonna cut the short piece off on the other side but the saw died and wouldn't start again. I had taken the loader tractor down there,so I figured I'd just get around the side and lift and push the rest up and over off the fence. Well,I got hung up in some limbs and brush and broke the muffler right off the tractor.
 
Sounds like your projects are going like most of mine do. At least the beans I planted
Friday are up already. Rain is supposed to stop tonight, then we get a chance of frost! Whoopee!
 

BTDT on broken muffler. AT least my saw, which hadn't been used in months, started. Otherwise it would have been hand sawing. Fence in woods and no easy tractor access.

Monday we met a retired MI dairy farmer and wife while doing the tourist thing at Biltmore estate, Ashville, NC. He mentioned that the previous week they had had frost. Hope the forecast misses for you.

I have had several dead trees fall on my fences. I usually cut the wires and splice them above the stump. Works for me. Roy
