3020 Diesel help please

I feel like an idiot even asking on this matter but I'm stumped. I have a 66 3020 diesel that we just overhauled and it runs like crap. Before anybody makes jokes or roles their eyes, we've done these for almost 20 years without a problem until now. I had the pump done at Area Diesel in Illinois and got four new nozzles from the same place. They are the "pencil" type nozzles. Anyway, the tractor starts great, has good oil pressure and doesn't have any smoke out of the ordinary. The problem is that it has a missfire that comes and goes. If you run it up to about 1400rpm it gets really bad. I can't isolate it to any one cylinder. If you crack lines, it drops that cylinder completely. The original pump was timed at 14 degrees but the paperwork I got with the rebuilt pump said to time it to TDC because it is timed to end of injection rather than the beginning as it was originally. I've been down this road before updating pumps on ten series and early 20 series tractors. This pump has the labeled covers that say "timed end inj". Need some help on this one guys.

Need the complete DBGVC # to find which retainer mark is used, then can find where it should be timed. Original stock 3020 is TDC since pump has advance. Has advance been checked for correct movement on engine? Hope you don't have a 3010 no advance pump.

I wouldn"t be surprised the way things have been going lately. I"ll get the pump #"s today and check it out. I still hope that it is just timing.

Got to the bottom of it. Intake valve sticking. Just had the head done with all new valves and seats. Turns out they used oversized stems and bored the guides and got one a little tight. Bad news is the piston didn't like the valve being in it's way. Not a pretty sight. The other bad news is that I can't seem to find a decent machinist around here.

don't know if you will see this since it has been so long from your original post, but if you need another piston, I think I might have one. Dale two one seven nine two three five five five two

over hauled a 7045 allis dam thing run great then it go to sputtering just light miss finally found out that when the machine shop had ground the valves on one cly it had one tiny spot that when valve would hit it as it rotated then it miss for a spell tell it turned just a little head head off two time before he found it he was about ready to through me out his shop but i stayed with him tell we found it that been some 15 yeas back hes still does my heads it was a good learning lesson for both of us
