For all you Dodge Guys.I have a 1999 Dodge 1500 4x4 pick up with an automatic transmission. The problem is that the transmission is shifting hard into gears and seems to shift un-necessarily when going from 30-40 M.P.H. Had this problem before and I believe it was the throttle sensor,..not sure though. Tranny fluid is clean and full,(Was changed less than 6 mo. ago) Any suggeations are appreciated as to what is causing the tranny to shift hard and often.
Thanks,
LeoinMi.

Same issue with my 1999 3500 AT. Shop replaced kick-down solinoid and problem eased a bit. More pronounced in Spring/Summer. I too belive it"s the TPS but since they"re 35$ for a gas and 350$ for the diesel....I"m holding out a bit longer.

Been a while, but had same problem on '00 1500/4wd/360 gas/47RE(?). Would "hunt" for gears around 20-35 mph and once in awhile set CEL randomly apparently as result of time vs. pressure mismatch at shift (don't recall code). Tech replaced solenoids and broken retainer bracket on "pressure booster"(?). Anyway it cost about $250 parts and labor and has been running fine since.

Just remembered that there was a TSB issued on these to replace an orifice plate with a larger diameter one to minimize this problem. It is years old, don't recall the TSB number, and when I checked, the "new and improved" part was NLA from Dodge. Might check "Geno's Garage" website for further. HTH.
