Another computer question

This afternoon Marilyn was sitting here in the office when a loud clap of rolling thunder came out of the speakers on my desktop. In her words she told me it made a loud boom. About five minutes ago (9:45)I was sitting here browsing YT when again a sudden loud clap of rolling thunder came out of the speakers. I about jumped out of my chair. Sounded just like a close lightning strike. Obviously some kind of gremlin has made it's way into the computer but how do I find it? I run win7. It's kind of unnerving to say the least. Jim

Just did it again! Whew! I think I just figured it out, now to get rid of it. One of the granddaughters was on this thing playing some game she got from the net. I clicked it out but a sound gremlin must still be lurking. Jim

shut it completely down for a few minutes and crank it back up...if problem persists after that she probably picked up some kinda bug...try system restore to earlier date...hopefully that will take care of it.

ps: find a old computer at a garage sale for the kids and put yours in a locked room BTDT

I did the shutdown last night but this morning I heard it again. Gonna try system restore. Thanks. Jim

Fixerupper,

I would run a complete computer scan with your antivirus software to see if it finds anything.

Did a restore a couple of hours ago and so far it's quiet. An automatic scan is supposed to happen every sunday night (last night) but a rescan never hurts anything. The speakers on this thing are awesome. Got the system with the last computer we bought six years ago and transferred it to this computer when we bought it six months ago. Sounds are crisp and clear as a bell, especially thunder! Thanks for the help. Jim

i just reread everything and your recount of first thunderclap still has me laffing...reminds me of time my stepdaughter asked to use my stereo to play a cd...told her sure but don't turn volume up past 1.5 ...naturally she cranked it wide open...a bit of info...my receiver is a old 200 watt per channel sansui with 12inch pioneer tower speakers...one of them was directly behind her...her mother washed them drawers 4 times and finally threw them away lmao
