Ammo........

I was working in Kearney, Nebraska today, so I scoped out Cabela's on the way out of town.

They had a respectable supply of ammo in most all popular calibers. The young man at the counter said ammo was finally beginning to come in faster than it went out, but for center fire rifle and handgun ammo, they still had a 5 box at one time limit, mix or match.

I intended to stop at Scheels in Sious City today on my way past and check it out. Last time they had most rifle and some pistol ammo. Still no .22 or .223, and they had the limit per customer on what they did have. With the latest debacle in DC I doubt there will be another attempt to legislate anything soon, which should help out the supply situation some. Of course this all could go out the window if another "incident" happens. Instead of stopping at Scheels I stopped at Bomgaars (like a TSC only better, IMHO) and looked at the TRACTOR parts and tools.

i noticed the local hardware store seemed to have what they used to have in stock, i didn't check calibers to closely, my stash is adequate at this time.-john-

A friend of mine went to the Raleigh NC gun show the other weekend and said ammo was in plentiful supply at reasonable prices. He also commented that the price of firearms was coming back down and that inventories were up. He said that there were lots of attendees.

Son bought an AR-15 from his wife's brother, and he suggested some .223 ammo for his birthday last week. Went to the local sporting goods emporium, and came away convinced that the only way to deal with the ammo shortage would be to find a .257 Roberts- about the only caliber they had plenty of.

But went to cheaper than dirt dot com, and they have plenty.

I have two simple rules.Never buy during shortages.Always keep a good stash of items you use.I keep a small note book where loading supplies and ammo, bar and chain oil.nails and hardware are tracked. The cellar has potatoes left, wood shed has wood left.My potatoes are planted with saved seed.Wont have to pay 50 to 90 cent a pound rip off store prices for seed. You cant buy flashlight batteries ,candles or plywood when a hurricane threatens. There always seems to be a run on snow shovels when a big storm is predicted.

I cruised by the case at Walmart 2 days ago, not much in there, surprisingly there was several boxes of 7.62x39, no .22 though, some target/clay shotgun rounds. I have not looked extensively, apparently Dicks Sporting Goods, on delivery days, you can show up early and get a ration card so to speak, and get your quota.

I'm fortunate to have adequate stock of .22 and or .308 hunting rounds, and I suppose some varmint shots with the .22 won't empty my inventory, but I can't practice with the .308 or too much with the .22WMR, don't have as much of either of those.

I'd like to be angry and point fingers about this LOL .... but in reality I just hope this will pass, the darned government and their large order and or whatever else is the cause, I'd like to hope it passes and the common law abiding citizen can get what they need for lawful purposes, like varmint eradication and or target practice to keep their skills honed in the off season, both of which help put food on this table.
