I was looking at a truck with a Cat engine and a 6 speed manual transmission. Are these trans direct or overdrive? Who makes the trans? the truck had 4.11 gears with 275/80R/22.5 tires. Any body had one of these little cats?

If it is a 7000 series gmc, the engine is likely a 3126 or a c-7 cat. They are about good for 250,000 miles. They prone to ring breakage. When they do this, they scuff the cylinder and you have to pull the block and bore and sleeve it. They do not have liners. It has huei fuel system which sometimes is problematic. WALK AWAY. The trans is likely a fuller/eaton 6 spd :pretty good trans, direct drive. I have worked on both at my job.Mark

A lot of farmers around here have had to replace the radiators with higher-capacity ones due to overheating (including myself). They're cold blooded, anything below freezing they should be plugged in. Mine is a 5 & 2 single axle, plenty of power. A friend of mine had a 3116 (earlier version) with 6-speed in a tandem - slow trip to the elevator with 500 bushels.

If it has the 3126 run a way. 150,000 and the block cracked, the dealer(Cat) mechanic told me that was about right. Injectors seals go and then they pump oil into the fuel tank. I am looking for a truck, but I will not have one of those POS again.
