10 tornadoes last night. One was estimated as being a mile wide, hit Granbury (west of me). Six confirmed dead, 14 missing.

No damage at my place. Lots and lots of thunder and lightening. Did get some much needed rain, but not much wind and not a washout.

Pray for those who lost family and those still missing.

Glad to hear you're OK, but so sorry for the ones in the paths of the distruction. Our prayers are with the families of those who lost loved ones. Keith

Nancy,

Glad you are ok. Will pray for those who lost loved ones or got injured, also those who got property damage (at least "stuff" can be replaced).

Tornados are a terrible thing.

I had the same down here. Lots of wind and boomers and rain. Not much damage. Few branches down barn roofs torn up. But no major damage.

I am about 125 miles south of Nancy. Was a big line of storms.

Nancy I was looking at the Hutchins barn pictures yesterday. What year was it damaged? Was that a tornado hit or straight line winds?

No damage at our place and we got 1 and 3/10ths in the rain gauge.

I noticed allot of tin stuck to the I-45 bridge in Ennis on the way in to work this morning. Looks like the roof of the kolache bakery at Doc's beverage blew off. Other than that it looked pretty good all the way up 45 this morning.

Sad deal about Granbury. Beautiful place.

Nancy, I hope you got a good cellar, or concrete cap on the basement. Parts of southern Kansas require that on new construction. Glad you got zero damage.

Sure glad you all didn't get hurt. Looks like for the next few months you might have to keep an eye out for another round.

Thoughts and prayers for all who were affected.

No storm cellar or basement, but the house here in Dallas is pier & beam set on a concrete footing.

The footing is about 18+ inches tall and 8 to 10 inches thick creating a crawl space under the house - real creepy.

If it was bad enough, I would head for there and get next to one of the concrete sides.

I"ve looked under there and don"t like the idea of getting down in there at all. There would have to be a tornado in sight and obviously headed for me before I could force myself into that area.

I live just south east of Cleburne where a Tornado hit and did a lot of damage. My neighbor told me this AM that he had an electronic rain gauge that measured 9.5"s that fell in about 3 hrs. Water flooded my house, washed away my driveway & flattened about 40 ft of pasture fence. I've lived here all my life and had never seen flood water so high. I thank God for no other damage.

I was planning on moving to Texas in about three years when I retire again and now you are telling me there are tornados there too? I been thru three of them here in Colorado, wanted to go somewhere they aren't.

I hear there was some grapefruit-size hail peppering down in your area. You might need to figure a hard-hat into your storm preparations.

Go to California. You can have wild fires and earthquakes to go along with your tax burden.

Have 2 sisters that moved out and went to Arizona where you have to use misters to breathe in the summer.

Most twisters are in the West/midWest part of the state. A few frequent the other areas and usually are small. The (reported) mile wide tornado near Grandbury is an exception and I don't remember one being in Texas recorded history.
