he WILL remember those days with you...reminds me of the years i spent helping my grandfather around the farm...miss him every day and he's been gone since '68

Seems like yesterday when my son was that age, everybody would always tell me to enjoy it, it goes so fast.

... now my advice to you: enjoy it - it goes so fast.

My son used to help me when I had to work on the car. one of the things I would get him to do was hold a light for me. He always thought I was just giving him something to do to keep him out of the way. He is grown now. He called me a while back and told me how he always thought I was just giving him a make work job, not important but he has changed his mind. He said he wished he had a son to hold the light for him now. I told him that I really needed the light held and it was an important job for me and I was always glad he helped. Enjoy them while they are young, take him fishing. You blink and he will be all grown up.

Remember this, when they are little they are big helps. When they are big, they are little helps.
When they have kids, the grandkids become big helps.

Enjoy while you can.

Your comment about a job to do reminded me of something the preacher said Sunday. He had a guy that worked for him for a few years. One day, the preacher's grandson saw an inch worm on the drive. He crushed it. The guy told him: " Don't do that. He has a job to do." Makes you think. As much as we hate mosquitoes, ticks, snakes and other creepy crawlies, they, too, have a job to do.

Thats a great memory for you and him. Reason I say this, and I'll bet I was about the same age, pre-school, my one and only grandfather came to the farm to visit and watch over me while the parents were gone which was quite a bit. I remember him and I planting tomatoes in this little plot next to the old milk house, nice dark easy to work soil, its the only thing still standing of what was once a great ole farm, huge victorian house and 2 large barns. Its a fond memory, a little hazy and surreal, but I can still recall it in full color so to speak LOL ! I learned that from him, how to plant tomatoes. I have planted them just about every year since those days. He was not around much longer, a stroke ruined him, dummy went off his BP meds for some stupid reason, he came back from a vacation in Europe, was found slumped over in the kitchen, he was never the same and spent most of his remaining days in the V.A. Hospital and nursing homes. I also learned about death that same day we planted the tomatoes, one of our cats either got hit by a car or something bad it had these bloody lacerations on it. So we made a cross and gave it a proper burial him and I. I was ok with it, learned to accept that this happens, being so young its all new to you, kids are resilient, more than adults I think. These memories are absolutely priceless, enjoy as many as you can, you or he will never regret it. I only got to know him and one grandmother on the other side who lived til 1996 or so, she was 87 years old.

that is nice. My grandsons (8 and 6)were just asking me yesterday if they could each have their own garden patch - OF COURSE!

X2 on everbody'd comments plus,I would like to say that I never saw a thread on YT where so many exposed thier soft sides. Guess we should talk less about crime, politics and bad neighbors and more about kids.

Priceless. A little farmer in his bibs. Can't beat it!
Makes me feel old though, even though I'm not!
My youngest grandchild will be two this year.
Where does the time go?
