Checked the potatoes this mourning and there black,It got down to 30 this mourning with frost.Does potatoes usally come back

Probably will loose damaged leaves, but they will come back. Farmers are a planting with a vengance here now. Don"t think many were up for Sunday/Monday"s frost here. Seed is probably safe in the soil. Would take a heckofa freeze to get them.

top growth is probably dead. the tuber will re sprout. you might end up with millions of tiny potatoes this year.

You can pull dirt over the tops if frost is predicted.Better not to plant too early.

Too late now but next time spray the vines with water just before Sun up and the frost won't hurt them.I sprayed potatos,beans and squash yesterday morning and everything came thru fine my neighbor didn't and most of his are badly frost damaged.
Covered the tomatos and peppers with buckets hard part was coming up with about 80 buckets.
