Anyone run CNC burntable for a living?

I started my new job today with in the plant I work as a CNC burner, formerly I ran a 1956 mechanical steel plate shear. I am curious if anyone here works in heavy steel fabrication. airpreheatercompany.com is where I work for the curious

I run a CNC plasma torch with 1" thickness capacity. Nice machine with HyperTherm supply and consumables. Jim

Yeah, I run an Esab Sabre 2" thick with plasma 8" with oxy-fuel. I work for Joy Global we build mining equipment. The shop I work at builds mostly continuous miners.

When I started working where I do now, I was running a 4 head oxy fuel cutting table. It nearly killed me. This was following 10 years of driving a forklift. I now do shipping and receiving. If I was told I had to go back to cutting, I would walk right out the door. If you guys like your jobs in cutting you are better men than me. It's a lot of hard work.

I saw a Joy Continuous Miner on "Modern Marvels" years ago , what an interesting machine !!

We have a plasma burn table as well as a torch burn table at the shop. The plasma burns 1 1/2" plate and the torch will do 2", I think. We do alot of automotive conveyor as well as bulk handling for powerhouses, parking garage lift systems, airport baggage handling, and other assorted automated systems and components.

I find them interesting, its amazing what damage some of them take while underground especially when pillaring. The new hard rock miners are really impressive but theyre still in their infancy. We have a large salt potash machine in the shop now it dwarfs the smaller coal machines.
