PJ Trailer Opinion

What do you think about PJ gooseneck trailers. Have an opportunity to buy on that is 5 years old and seen minimal use and not sure what it should be valued at compared to new. Its a 28 foot tandem. How much weight do you load on them? Is 30,000 GVW way too much for short runs?

I have a bumper pull pj trailer with a tilt bed. It's a darn nice trailer. All I know is my truck will reach its capacity before the trailer does. My trailer is about 3000 lbs too, so it's a little heavy.

I have a 24 foot 102" wide 14,000 low profile bumper pull PJ trailer. Its a nice pulling trailer and it tracks great loaded or empty. Mine weighs in at 4,200 lbs. empty.

I just bought a new 28' tandem this spring, low-pro model, flat deck with slide in ramps. went thru hell getting it, because the dealer messed up the order twice. Sold my old 95 PJ 24' for $2000...a little 2 cheap but for more than the trade in.
Haven't had this one loaded real heavy yet, but did have up to 8ton on my old one. Truck, trailer, and load, 30,000 would be no problem.

I have an "08 PJ 40 foot with a hydraulic tail. Best trailer I"ve ever owned. They do a lot of little things the other builders don"t. The only complaint I have is with their powder coat- it"s peeling off in a lot of places. I suppose any 5 year old trailer that has been used would need paint, but I expected better. Mine has 12k axles, and I regularly haul two tractors weighing a little over 19k.

I had an '04 that had great paint, then I bought an '07 and the paint is peeling like crazy. I'm not sure if they had a problem or not, but I emailed the factory website and they ignored me. I am trying them again, picking up a new one in WI the first of June....anyhow, I will try to sell this one as is, or if I have to I can sandblast and repaint this winter. Otherwise they are a great trailer, track straight and are built well. I like to trade up every 5 years for tax purposes.....

I have a 28 ft dual tandem PJ that is about six years old. I usually pull it loaded to the max, and it pulls nice with no pushing. The only draw back is the powder coat. Where ever you scratch it the rust travels very fast under it. I try to keep after it by pulling up the loose stuff and painting with rusty metal primer then top coating.

Excellent trailer in my opinion. Plan to buy another when the time comes to update my 2004 20+5 14,000lb gooseneck.

I have had 3 PJ 32 ft G.N.tandem trailers and just got a new one .The name helps sell them and I usually get a new one every year and it usually costs around $500/$750 difference. My 2012 had an issue with paint on front which they warranted.Powder Coating should last better even in Winter conditions and I am sure I wasnt the first to have an issue but they were fair about it.

G1050,
Don't have a goose neck. I've read where some people are having problems with the taller pick-ups and goosenecks.

2007 was the last year for GMC's lower classic body style. That inspired me to buy a new truck. Hope it lasts and GMC or any truck returns to the low riders.

30,000 GVW also means you are in CDL territory.

I bought a used 2006 PJ 18' beavertail solid deck car hauler 2 years ago. I use it for hauling just about anything. I have no complaints. This isn't so heavy that it pulls real nice behind my Chevy K1500 and I've hauled as much as 5,000 lbs on it with no problem. It could use a paint job but that's a non issue, hand the neighbor girl 50 bucks and a bucket of paint. This trailer was built in Mexico but I don't see any of the construction of it as less than if I had built it myself.
