OT - 96 Tahoe Transmission

Have been borrowing the FIL's '96 Tahoe. Last night the speedometer/odometer/shift designator just stopped and transmission went into limp mode. Will shift manually from 1 to 2 to 3. Won't shift into OD, but think that is the limp mode kicking in.

Went out a few minutes ago and pulled the following codes:

P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit
P0753 - Shift Solenoid "A" Electrical
P0758 - Shift Solenoid "B" Electrical
P0785 - Shift/Timing Solenoid

Seems to me like this is probably an electrical/electronic issue, but I don't really know.

Can anybody give me some diagnostic help and ideas on what to replace? All assumes that it is something relatively simple.

Thanks,

Kirk

Impossible to say without a scanner and knowledge of inner workings. Since all of the solenoids are setting codes, I wonder if the EPC (force motor, or pressure control solenoid) is bad, Or possibly a valve body problem, like a stuck valve. But those codes could be set by more serious problems like a fried clutch pack, or overheated converter.

"Fail-safe, limp mode, defaut" is second gear.

If you can manually get 3rd AND IF those are fresh codes, you're loosing power to the transmission, as there is no way all of those components will go bad at the same time.
