Oliver 88 Hydraulics Problem

I have a 1950 Oliver 88 Rowcrop. I wanted to replace a gasket on hydraulic resivior. I took the cover off and the right-side interlock valve had blown the screws, the steel plate, the snap ring and valve out. I got the screws out and made a new plate and put all back together. I have not started the tractor yet. What would make this interlock valve blow like it did? Any ideas or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Post this on the oliver board. There is a fella there that sells Hyd. parts for the two and three didigt Olivers. he goes by the handle of centerplate I believe.
