I was getting lost below lets re boot

Greg and Royse are on right track BROWSER PROBLEM

I tried the address Greg said and it brought up Google Search Page

Since I installed IE 10 on 3/27 I ran a system restore back to 3/17 and once all done it booted up in IE 9 AND EVERYTHING WORKED PERFECT I WENT TO 10 WEB SITES ALLL WORKED

Then all a sudden IT STOPPED WORKING

It will work again right after I re boot and go to MSN but only once and after that it stops working

A re boot now in IE 9 makes it work once but then thats it

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Glad my suggestion worked for you

Sorry to say but it sounds like a Malware problem that was on your system for a while. System Restore really is useless when the Malware is already on your system. I would suggest saving any data from the drive that you want to keep and wipe the drive clean. Then check files on your other system for viruses from your saved files and reinstall them.

BOTH laptop and Desktop are running System Suite 14 Pro WITH ABSOLUTE LATEST THREAT DEFINITIONS ..........I kept re booting and after each reboot IE will work for the first website AND THEN ALL THINGS STOP.....

I set it for a complete total scan (takes long time) so Im going to let that and every anti malware and virus scan System Suite can run Im going to run it

It was Royces and your posts that are making some progress

THANKS TO YOU BOTH I will check back in tomorrow

Had a similure problem and it was having 2 visus detection working.
Don"t know how or why but McAfee was installed and M/S essentials was trying to kick it out.
Slowed sys to almost stop. 10 minutes to get to web site.
So started to remove any program install in the past month before McAfee was shown to be active.
Got it removed and system is now good again.

John, I have to give a hard time. As you know I was a Navy E.T. computer and I know you have training in the same area. So are you like me what you knew back say 10 years a go has since out run what you know now?????? When I got out of the navy I ran as fast as I could away from being an E.T. and have never looked back

John,

Let's treat this like you would an electrical problem. Start from scratch, see what's working and where it's breaking.

First off, let's understand your setup. You have some sort of broadband connection (cable or DSL), presumably with an ethernet output. The ethernet output of the broadband modem is connected to your wireless router, and you have your desktop connected directly to the router via ethernet. Correct?

First thing to do is to connect your laptop directly to your broadband modem via ethernet. Reboot it and see if everything works. If that's good, then hook up your laptop via ethernet to the router and see how that works. If everything works OK there, then the problem pretty much has to be with the WiFi connection between the laptop and router.

Now, there could be a number of reasons why your other wireless devices work OK with this router. If the laptop is older, it may not support Wireless-N, and it could be that the Wireless-G doesn't work real well with your setup. Looking at the reviews for your Belkin N300, it has a lot of bad reviews for a device that should simply plug in and work.

Mark, Royce, Glen and others

Its Sat AM. Yes I have already sort of systematically tried to work and troubleshoot the cause AND AS ROYCE AND GLEN SUSPECTED it doesnt seem to be my router or a wireless problem but the Browser and I was using IE 10 and it worked fine a while then quit so I system restored back to IE 9 and it would load the first page but then seems to lock up no more browsing.....

YES DSL Modem then the wireless router with LAN to desktop.

I have tried BOTH old (worked fine till last week) D Link Modem and new Belkin N300 Modem BOTH YIELD SAME PROBLEM

I have tried BOTH the internal wireless or an external USB Wireless adapter on the laptop BOTH YIELD SAME PROBLEM

I have tried the laptop on a LAN cable instead of the wireless connection YIELDS SAME PROBLEM

Now on IE 9 if you re boot it will load MSN or other web pages but then thats it no more internet pages until I re boot

Now Im running a total deep anti virus and malware scan

Its my opinion its software or malware or virus problem now?????????

Thanks to everyone

Sooooo, John, can we assume that the Equipment Ground, and the Neutral wires have not been transposed at the receptacle?
Very Best Regards,
Charlie

Electronics left me about 40 years ago lol we still had a vacuum tube course at Purdue in the late sixties. Im fairly handy at Tractor DC and AC Power Distribution but as far electronics Im 40 years behind grrrrrrrrrrr

Take care Rich

Heck Charlie, after all this I have no idea lol

All I can say is sorta like when I went to a lot of used tractor auctions and one came up for sale not running they would announce IT WAS RUNNING WHEN IT QUIT

My puter was working fine until it quit

Have you checked to proxy settings?

Tools->Internet Options->Connections tab->LAN Settings button

Shouldn"t be anything checked or set there. A proxy server tells it to route your browser requests through another server (where good or bad things can happen to it) instead of directly to the address you wanted.

But either way, I prefer to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer because the add-ons make things much nicer.

Reload the computer from your backup image......You did make a backup image didn't you? :>)

The bug has reworked your anti-virus program to accept it as "good".

Except for the simplest of issues, "Restore" is a totally wasted effort because it uses the same engine to restore that is giving you the problems in the first place.

You've got to get down "underneith" Windows.

Allan

Its set to automatically detect, nothing checked nor any boxes filled below, same as it was before when it was working

Thanks

John T

Ive got a backup image on a portable HD,,,,,Important files are backed up on Carbonite plus another external HD,,,,,,

Im afraid I may have to go that route as a total deep scan didnt find anything and Ive ran every anti virus and firewall out the ying yang and tired IE 9 or 10

Its just freakin BROKE gonna use WD 40 and a hammer next

John T

Sooo sorry I could not help with your computer, I use a tech man. All I could do was poke fun.
Best Regards,
Charlie

Another trick I use is to remove the hard-drive.

Set the jumper to 'Slave' and install it on another computer as a second or "additional" drive.

Then run the anti-virus program from that computer. Trouble is, does the AV have the latest definitions?

This latest virus that hits IE 10 is an absolute basterd. If you have Win 7 or newer, Microsoft is releasing the 'fix'. If Win XP, you're on your own.

Allan

Should have added:

The virus installs a 'back door' so that your computer will do the bidding of the bad guy.

You can't get to the internet, but your computer is "on" for someone else's purpose.

Allan

I have Win 7, WHERE THAT IE 10 FIX you mentioned??

YES On my System Suite 14 Professional I keep the absloute latest threat definition updates

John T

The last I heard (yesterday) was that that Microsoft was working around the clock to plug the hole and hope to have the 'fix' out by the 14th.

John, like Greg said, I really think you're going to have to reload this guy...........and stay away from IE10 until they get it shored up.

The 'fix' will come in thru the automatic updates, but if you can't get on the internet.............see what I mean?

Allan

I use it too and it works great.

However, for the average home user, it's not an option as the machines are already contracted with MS and loaded when they come off the store shelves.

Only us "geeks" scrounge around down in the bowels of the beast. :>)

Allan

That is it!! the 12ax7 twin triode is grid to ground on web pages. Jim (yuo might just try Firefox, I do and it isn't broken. Jim

Ya I know what your saying on that. When I got out of the navy I did a bit of TV repair etc but got burned out so then switched over to mechanics and truck driving etc and have never looked back. Shoot I have forgotten thing that few ever learned like how to count binary and octal and programming etc.
