Tractor air conditioner question.

I was taking things off the 2-135 White today to put a new clutch in it. I found a hose right where it starts up under the cab, that had a bulge about half the size of a golf ball on it. I hoped it was a heater hose, but no such luck. It's the suction line for the air conditioner. It runs all the way from the compressor, under the cab and up the cab corner with no fittings to take it apart. It seems to be quite a pliable hose. Doesn't feel like a wire braid. There's a pretty fair whack of slack in it.

Here's the question. Can I just cut a couple of inches out of it where the bad spot is and put a barbed fitting and some clamps in it or do I have to get a new hose and snake it down that cab corner and put more work in to it than it is to put a clutch in?
I know I'll have to get the gas out then recharge it either way.

They used to make a splice kit for A/C hose. If the hose is bad you may just end up chasing leaks. I would recommend a new hose and be done with it.

My old PU truck ran for a number of years with low pressure line connected to nipple and double hose clamped - until compressor clutch came apart. Obviously you"ll have to evacuate the system and recharge.

they used to have special hose clamps for them that had a tab on them that hooks over a lip on the barbed splice to keep it from pulling apart.

If its the same as our 2-150 it comes apart just above the cab corner inside the roof panel. I changed ours last year as it was leaking. The fitting was very tight but we broke it lose eventually. It's not too bad to get thru the cab corner. I realize they are different models but may be similar

Best of luck

Have run into a spliced hose changing the pressure on the low side & causing the a/c to not work as well.If you get a new hose it will have the liner in it for 134a.
