Cicadas

I read the East coast will have these emerge in the next week or so, we had ours about 5-6 years ago, i didn't know there where so many different groups. I remember last time some area's it looked like it was snowing, they where so thick.

I've never noticed them a this place but I was with a group that went to West Virginia for something or other and they were emerging then. Trees and ground were covered, creepy looking bugs!

Last summer I couldn't figure out what was causing all the holes in my yard until I saw a cicada pupa crawl out of a hole. I took pictures of it crawling across the yard, climbing over a brick tree well, up a tree and attaching itself to the tree. Took pictures of it splitting it's shell and climbing out. Then took pictures of it extending its wings and drying them in the sun.
FACINATING!!! Way too many pictures to post.
