I saw this on the Internet and thought not another embarrassing National Anthem by famous singer/musicians. I was surprised. Metallica is a famous heavy metal band. So they played the National Anthem on electric guitars. I think they did a good job. They really showed some good talent and had it down pretty darn good.

Thats awsome I love the way is sounds. Our local fire dept has a dance on the 3rd of july and the band we had two years ago closed the show with the national anthem on electric guitars and the crowd loved it

Jimi Hendrix did it the best. A friend sang it at the IL Farm Bureau convention. I told him, he should have borrowed my Hindrix CD and woke all of those old fogies up. It would have been a hearing ad check!!

I never got in to hard metal way back then and I still don't get anything out of it. The anthem sung by a rich full male voice sounds good to me. I was at a native American pow-wow once and they sang the national anthem in their native tongue and musical form. I didn't understand a word they sang, but it was the anthem nonetheless. Jim

Never got into Metal that much, even though I graduated during some of the 'metal years' of the mid 80's. Still, metal fan or not, those guys did a great job of playing the National Anthem in the clip.

That said, if you ever watch some of the shows on TV where they talk to the musicians from various types of music, many of them will name Hendrix and others from that era as their influnces, along with others from Hank Williams to Elvis. It's amazing to me how a certain 'sound', more so than a 'type', of music can influnce another type of music the way it does. Ultimately though I had a guy showed me something one night that simply blew my mind. He was messing around with his an electric guitar and commenting on basically what I just said. To prove a point he twisted a few knobs and played a riff that was about as country as you could get, and it sounded great. He then twisted those same knobs in a different direction and played the same riff. That time wyat came out was as hard rock/metal as you could get....Even so, it still 'sounded' like the origional country riff.

When it's all said and done I pretty much appreciate any kind of music as long as it 'sounds' good, and again, those guys sounded Great.

Like it or not, they played it with class and dignity instead of trying to "jazz" it up. Unlike others in the past who were a disgrace. :x There is another video of drummer Lars Ulrich throwing out the first pitch at that game.

I am not a heavy metal fanatic either. But that was truly amazing. They did a great job.
