Can I spray roundup on my garden before plowing? what about plants, like tomatoes, okra, squash, and other.

Yes you can.

Roundup is a contact only killer, there will be no residual killing for things planted after you spray.

Don't spray it on plants you want to keep unless they are genetically designed to tolerate Roundup.

You would be better served to plow and disc, then wait until you see the green emerging. That is all weeds. Hit them with round up, wait three days and plant your garden, This will also help your soil temps come up.

Roundup kills every thing. Yes you can spray the garden area before you plow or till it but ME I WILL never use a chemical like that where I am growing a food I want to eat. Me I till the garden 3 or 4 times. I till then wait a week of so then till again. Do that kills off most of if not all of the weeds and no chemicals to boot. At this point in time I have already tilled my garden at least 3 times and am starting to plant to warm weather plants. Put in Peppers and tomato's yesterday

Roundup kills green plants it is sprayed on.

It binds up and has no effect on soil, or unsprouted seeds.you can plant into the garden right away after spraying.

As it travels through a plant and kills from the root up, you should spray it, and wait 7 days to allow it to work on the plants you want to kill. It also works better in good, warm, growing conditions, as it only works on growing plants.

Do not spray it on or close enough to drift on your growing tomato, squash, etc plants. It will kill them dead.

Glyphosate - active ingreadient in roundup - is under attack from many sides, and is considered pure poison by many. Another 'study' came out this week, tho these studies seem real short on actual science evidence.... The facts as we can figure then out today has glyphosate as less dangerous than most all other herbicides, and less dangerous than most anything under your kitchen sink, or the caffeine in coffee, and so forth. There is a lot of different opinions on this, however, and mentioning it here for you to take as you wish for your needs.

I agree with old. Why would you put poison chemicals in your garden if you are going to eat out of it? I am disabled & can't walk but still use a cane and the hoe to get around weeding.

the only non chemical way to sterilize soil is black plastic for 6-8 weeks during summer heat...i've used roundup also and havent grown a third arm yet.

Ya last year was the only year in many I used a chemical on my garden due to the blister beetles being so bad and use 7 dust on them but still did not like doing that. My lawn mower has a bagger on it and I use the grass clippings as mulch which helps a lot with the weeds

my method is similar to old, till deep which brings seeds to surface to sprout. when those seeds sprout till deep again, this kills sprouted seeds and brings up new ones to sprout. wait a few days, till lightly which kills sprouted seeds but tends to not bring up new seeds. plant garden. does not eliminate weeds but seems to reduce them to a manageable level.

Gin will serve as a good weed killer. Yes, THAT Gin.

Either it's a good weed killer or makes you not mind the weeds. Don't remember which.

thanks, I think i will just stick to tilling and weeding, dont care to use chemicals either.

You can also lay newspaper between the rows to help keep the weeds down and it will decay and not hurt the soil since most inks are made in such a way as to be safe chemically
