Hauling a v rake

I bought a M&W 8 wheel v rake about 150 miles from home on line. The price was right! I have a gooseneck flatbed trailer. Should this rake fit on my trailer and be legal to haul. I thought I would have them lift it on and I would just strap it down.
I have attached a picture.

YOu might be just a hair too wide, but you can easily take the rake wheels and their attached arms off and lay them on the floor of the trailer. Easy job.

Folded up width should be 10 ft. If that's too wide just do like Randall said, take the rake wheels off. The front two wheels are the widest so you might get by with just taking them off.

Joe, I used to have a rake identical to yours. 'Not meaning to rain on your new found "prize"....but I sure hope you own a welder............and a cutting torch......and you don't cuss too much. Good luck.

Why haul? Hook it on and go. I've towed them 50 miles before no problem, and when I sold one very similar to that one a few years back, the buyer towed it over 100 miles to it's new home with no issue. My personal thought is that would be the easiest by far.

I would haul it they realy werent made for hi-way travel besides probably tires arent good enough for long haul. That way you wont need safety chains, hitch, lites and so forth pluss safety.

I haul my 10v sitrex on my car trailer twice every year to different fields about 30 miles apart. I back it up on to the trailer and like someone else said remove the wheels that are wider or stick out beyond the sides of trailer.. then strap all down..and away we go.

might add that the reason I dont pull from filed to field is I usually need my trailer for hauling bales.. so i dont have to make two trips..

I have a Kuhn 10 wheel that I pull with a NH TC-29. Any custom jobs that are more than 1 mile or 2, I just load the tractor with the rake hooked up on my 25ft gooseneck and pull it all to the job. Works well and then I can carry any tools I might need in the truck.

No, the rake wheels were the best part of it. The frame that the rake wheel arms attach to are too light and the main attachment mechanism was too light also. They have a swath width adjustment means, but if you try to loosen the one main bolt on the underneath side, it would strip the threads darn near every time. (get out the torch) and have extra bolts on hand. There is just too much rake "hanging out there" whenever you raise the rake up and make your turns. If you will take it easy with it and not "rodeo" the rake, it should work fine.
