What to use when lubricating brass parts?

I'm restoring the pump mechanism in a Wayne 615 visible gas pump. There are two large brass cylinders which the pistons pump in. The pump won't be used, but I would like to keep it from freezing up. Is there any type of lubricant (grease) that I can coat the inside of the cylinder without damaging the brass or the rubber rings on the pistons?

I agree if it was going to be used within a day or two. Rendered lard is pretty rank when heated for a month. Jim

I too keep a large jar of baby smelling goo around to lube things that I want slick but minimum chemical reaction with other things. Main use for it is lubing the seal on pump up sprayers so that when they are empty I can unscrew the pump.
