Yesterday the wife and I found 63 morals. 1.25lbs of them in fact. So any body have some good recipes for them??
My books have a couple like eggs and morals. And one that you dip them in egg then bread crumbs.
So any of you have a good batter recipe for them??

Cut them into quarters, sautee in butter - nuff said!

(Lucky you - weather conditions, enviornmental changes and the influx of wild turkeys, and there"s none to be found here any more.)

We bread them , fill them up with this aerosol cheese for crackers (smoked cheddar flavor) and plunge them in the deep fryer. Have to hold them upside down. You"ll lose some of the cheese but they are outstanding. Also like to sautee them with a couple strips of bacon. Thanks for your report. I am going back this weekend and you are just a few counties south of us. Hope you enjoy them. I look forward to it all year. Was a late year and I"ve had to wait longer. Last year was the best year we ever had. I always read your posts when I see them.

Read the label on aerosol cheese and tell us if there is any cheese in it.Awful thing to do to the best mushroom .

Uhhh, he's already eating fungus, I doubt the quality of the cheese will matter much.

I found say 10-15 in the pasture yesterday and the rest I found on the small lake banks and on the island I have in that lake. Raining and cool here today but tomorrow they say it will be in the upper 50s so tomorrow and Thursday should both be good days to look for more

Wife cuts them in half and fries them in butter. Nothing more. Serve with brook trout fried golden brown. Nature"s best goodies.

Just throw them in a bag with flour and coat them good and put in skillet with cooking oil, no butter for me. I've tried them about anyway you can think of, and we like them best this way. Second way would be egg and cracker crumbs. When I was a kid many year's ago I had many school lunches which included mushroom sandwiches, which included mushrooms with bread and butter. Oh and spring is not complete without a meal of roons and asparagus. Hm, Hm, good.

Morel mushrooms are good eating fried in a little butter. They taste a bit like beef.I like goat milk, duck eggs, squirrell and rabbit stew.Fresh eggs right from the hen house are nice.People with food fetishes amuse me.

Egg and cracker crumbs,100+ year old iron skillet, and a big spoon of Krisco.I've also used ground corn flakes.

It's to each his own but I can't see loading something up with aerosol cheese that only comes around a couple'a weeks a year.

Enjoy everybody.

I've always liked them just sliced and sauteed in real butter.
They are also very good done the same way but in olive oil.
Better for you that way too.

We eat our share sautéed in plain butter too. I wouldn't knock the cheese until you've tried it. Nothing fried in butter will come in high on the healthy food list anyway. If the cracker cheese gets me in the end so be it. Sometimes you gotta live life on the edge.

Healthwise all the butter substitutes are far worse than butter.Olive oil and canola oil the only ones that wont plug your pipes. Most peanut butter is loaded with hydrogenated oil.We use cheddar cheese but the stuff in the squirt cans does not contain any cheese.Read the label next time you go shopping.
