Farmall Type A

Hi guys, I am the happy owner of my grandpa's old Farmall A imported from the US in the late forties. It's in a rather good shape and with my 3 sons, we'll try to restore it this year. Is anyone could tell me what is the meaning of the 3 letters FAA previous to the serial number? And is it correct to consider the building year around 1945 according to that n°128 522? Thanks a lot for your reply.

The info from "The Red" is correct on the prefix. IH used some cryptic letters The F could be Farmall and A seems reasonable, but the engine was used in many different applications with that prefix. Jim

Hello Jim and thanks a lot for your reply. I have finally checked my serial number on another website dedicated to Farmall A and it appears that my "red" has been built in 1945 in Chicago and runs with a dual kero/gasoline engine (1gallon and 8 gallons each).See you later.
