bought a calf today, about 4 days old, finally got it to take bottle but noticed that it's hair is falling out, i mean really falling out, you can get ahold of it and pull a handfull right out,...no lice that i can see, it's a dairy angus cross,..any guess's on what it may be ?? vets not in till monday...

The most common causes of hair loss is mange or lice but not in a 4 day old calf.

Is the calf having other problems????

I am really going out on a limb with not seeing the calf but milk geting into the rumen can cause hair loss but that would be odd in 4 days without other symtoms showing up much eariler.
Many things can cause this like feeding from a bucket; tube feeding; stressors such as long-distance transportation; irregular feeding times or milk too cold temperature.
